My job market paper explores the financial benefits hospitals can achieve by fulfilling their social responsibility. I find that hospitals providing more charity care experience increased patient revenues and profitability in subsequent periods. This is because charity care bolsters hospitals' philanthropic reputation, driving higher patient demand. My research offers an economic rationale for greater corporate engagement in CSR initiatives.
